About the Artist
I am an artist painting color drenched artworks of places and things I love. Painting the light in all it's beauty is my focus, whether in Greece, at the beach, or my own backyard garden.
New York born and raised, I have always been an artist. My Greek and Armenian heritage plays a large role in how I see my world and in the colors I lean towards in my paintings. Shadows and highlights, shapes and forms, the color of light is varied no matter where I look.
The medium of the moment is oil paints. However, I enjoy exploring watercolor, gouache, pastel, color pencil, and pen and ink. Believe it or not, Crayola crayons are quite an under rated medium.
Florals, land and seascapes, portraiture, still life, all fit into my indoor and outdoor studio practice. I work from direct observation as much as I can. Other times I use my own reference photos, and those of other photographers with permission.
This past year I had the pleasure of painting cover art, as well as a feature story on my work, for a lovely California-based chef for her second Greek cookbook, A Drop Of Ladi And My Greek Soul, by Krystina Kalapothakos. I am available for commission work.
Currently, a few of my floral watercolor paintings are on view at Barnes Gallery, Garden City, NY.
